Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media Arts

We live in a multimedia world. The digital media arts degree program at the 酴圖弝け will prepare you for a career in a variety of fields, including media production, web design, visual design and emerging media technologies.

Why Study Digital Media Arts at St. Thomas?

Our program will build your skills and knowledge about the planning, creation, influence and critique of media content. Our program draws on multiple disciplines such as journalism, English and music to develop the abilities you will need to work on film, television and computer-based audiovisual media projects. Our alumni go on to work as project managers, sound designers, screenwriters, film producers and so much more.

You also have the choice of concentrating your major in media design or media production. Depending on your concentration, you will complete courses focusing on writing and designing for the web, audio production, videography and more.

    Our students have the opportunity to get hands-on experience through TommieMedia, KUST, the university's multimedia studio, the Playful Learning Lab and St. Thomas E-Learning and Research (STELAR). Plus, our students graduate with a strong portfolio and the knowledge they need to be media-savvy citizens, creators and learners.

    Scholarships

    Our program offers scholarship opportunities to prospective students currently in high school, incoming first-year students and current students with a declared major in digital media arts or journalism.

    Father James Whalen Endowed Scholarship

    This $2,000 scholarship is for incoming first-year students at St. Thomas. We award this based on their commitment to 酴圖弝け service and career-related activities, academic merit and the promise of success in their career.

    Application Deadline: March 6, 2025

    ThreeSixty Journalism Scholarship

    The university awards one renewable, full-tuition scholarship each year to a first-year student who completed a ThreeSixty Journalism summer camp and intends to study a major from the digital media arts program. Candidates who will contribute diversity to St. Thomas and the department are given preference as well.

    Whalen, Leyden, Vachon and Minnesota Journalist Abroad Scholarships

    These scholarships are for current digital media arts, journalism or strategic communication majors. The annual award typically ranges from $600 to $3,000.
